Fossils of these and other types of invertebrates are frequently found in Kansas rocks. Although often overshadowed by the state's vertebrate fossils (such as sharks' teeth or the skeletons of huge swimming reptiles called mosasaurs), Kansas invertebrate fossils are nonetheless scientifically significant.
